The team behind proMAD recognizes the importance of protecting the privacy of your personal and scientific information, and we have prepared this privacy policy to provide you with valuable information about our privacy practices. This privacy policy applies when you use our online service. If you are a user in the European Economic Area (“EEA”) or Switzerland, please see the Users in the EEA and Switzerland section of this privacy policy for additional provisions that apply to your use of this service.

Information We Collect

We try to avoid collecting personal information about our users. But, we may collect information that you provide to us and enable the scope of this service.

Information You Provide to Us. When interacting with our service, you may be invited to provide personal information to enhance your experience on the services. For example, we may ask for information such as your name and e-mail address to inform you about a completed calculation. Data sets provided to be analyzed are stored.

Information About Your Use of the Service. In addition to the information you provide to us directly, we may collect information about your use of the Services. For example, we may collect:

  • Device information such as your hardware model, IP address, other unique device identifiers, operating system version, browser type, and settings of the device you use to access the service.
  • Usage information such as information about the time and duration of your use of the service and other information about your interaction with content offered through the service, and any information stored using cookies, and similar technologies that are needed by the service to work.

This data is just collected from logs created by the webserver. All information about our visitors are anonymised before the transfer into a private installation of matomo for analysis.

How We Use Information

To Provide and Manage the Service You Request. This includes, for example, processing your submitted data, or sending you electronic newsletters.

To Contact You. We may periodically contact you with information about the service, including in connection with your requested calculations, online surveys, legal notices, new features, and other relevant information. You may opt out of receiving these email messages from us by following the instructions contained in those email messages or using the form provided here.

To Better Understand Our Users. We conduct research on our users’ usage of the service based on the information we collect, or you provide. We do this to better understand and serve our users, and to improve this service.

To Protect the Rights of the Service and Others. We may use your personal information as we believe necessary or appropriate to protect, enforce, or defend the legal rights, privacy, safety, or property of the Services, its employees or agents, or other users and to comply with applicable law.

Sharing of Information

Affiliates. We may share information with the affiliated researchers and within our research institutes.

Service Providers. As the hosting infrastructure for this service is sponsored by the Steinbeis Research Center quantUP information about the operation and usage of the service may be shared with them. We may also share information with vendors providing contractual services to us, such as our certified German hosting vendor Hetzner.

Other Parties When Required by Law or As Necessary to Protect Our Users and Services. We may share your personal information as we believe necessary or appropriate to protect, enforce, or defend the legal rights, privacy, safety, or property of the Services, our employees or agents or users or to comply with applicable law or legal process, including responding to requests from public and government authorities.

This includes but is not limited to Australia, Germany and the United States of America.
